Regardless about how my employer feels about giving us sports cars, reminder that the Viper is awesome.

Nearly 20 years ago, earlier in my career, my employer added a new, automated procurement system. One day, against my better judgement, I filled out the 2 page procurement form requesting a BMW M5, manual, black with the specific option packages etc. I didn’t hear anything for about a month, until my manager at the time mentioned in passing I probably shouldn’t do that again.

Any car can be a sports car if you try hard

Your boss was probably upset because he knew Le Mans Blue was a much better color and you had the audacity to choose black instead.

It is, though I w as really disappointed to hear they can hav e oiling issues when you start to track them. I woul d have thought their huge capacity would help, but it seems they can't handle sustained high g turns.

Ask all the aggressive driving violations I got in the work trucks at my first job to confirm. To be fair, those were because I hit bumps too hard or took corners too fast and the accelerometer didn’t agree with me.

I’d be on board with bringing the Viper back with a lower-displacement, high-revving V10.

you know, my boss didn’t, but his boss probably did - he had a gorgeous 996 Carrera 4s at the time...

Ah, trickle down tastes.

I assume the Viper ACR doesn’t have this problem.

A replacement with LESS displacement?!
But seriously if/when the Viper returns, it has to make more HP than a Hellcat.
And an ACR that makes more than the Demon on race fuel

But don’t they already stick hellcats in everything, so I would expect one in a viper revival. They could just tweak the last model to fit a hellcat.
I might not even be the oldest platform FCA makes ;)
Could be a HellViper

Just need to tack on two more cylinders and it’d be all set.

I thought they fixed that with the snap oversteer... no way to sustain the high g cornering. The rear end just decides to come on around. Problem solved

Hellcat engine didn’t fit the last gen. Plus, it still should be a V-10.*
*Or due to federal regulations, a small displacement V8 Hybrid. A V6TT/Straight6TT hybrid just wouldn't sound right...like a Garter snake

That’s why I said tweak it to fit it.

10/10 could get burritos in a viper.

But if FCA* couldn’t do it...?
*pre Stellantis

As far as I'm aware, even those have wet sump systems. They do have swinging arm oil pick up in the gen 4, but not sure how effective they are. I was just surprised to find that some of the track cars locally were resorting to accumsump setups.

I like the later hartop Vipers, the first gen were crappy despite Jay Leno’s praise of it in his video.

As the not-so-proud daily driver of a 2010 Civic that I recently obtained for $1000 (literally was only driven by a little old lady to church, has 8400 miles), I can can confirm. :)
